Nicole compares World War 2 subjects

Today in Excel class, we had Mrs. Bruton come in and talk to us about the Holocaust and some of its major points. We saw that it went from a religious point to racism. Earlier this week we talked about Pearl Harbor and the history of that and compared it to Saddam Hussein and the 9/11 attacks.

Do you think that there is any significance between these 3 major events in history? Why or why not. Do they relate to each other in any way?

I truly do feel that these three events do relate to one another. These events made are country so much stonger and more prepared for everything and anything. But these events all caused heartache and death. After witnessing 9/11 and hearing so much about the other two events i feel they are quite similar. Though they seem diffrent they all had quite an impact on are country, they made us stronger, and more united.

i feel that all three of these events were some of the most tragic points in history. All had there own uniquness to themselves, but they all shared in the killing of many inocent lives, and stripping many peoples freedo,ms away. They are all significant solely because we must all learn from them and try to prevent history from repeating itself.

All three of these events share a common fact that is the should have never happened and werent deserved. Also in each of the tradgedies a particular group of innocent people were singled out during the attack and and again a particular and innocent group of people were discriminated against after the attack. For example during the Holocaust Jews Slavs and others were discriminated against for no apparent reason other than they had different beliefs than their government and were prosecuted for it. After and stil till this day many people are bitter towards the Germans for their actions and though some of them were guilty of horrid acts all of them were not and their ancestors should not be blamed for it. When Pearl Harbor was attacked America could not believe it had happened and we felt it was very undesereved. Not only did we want revenge on Japan and its people (which we later got with the atomic bomings of Hirshima) but we also turned against our own American-Japanese Citzens and took them away form their homes, jobs, and familes and placed them into "internment camps" or sugar-coating the American version of concentration camps. Also when the World Trade Center buildings were attacked the American people were again shocked and even more so this time because instead of having an army based attacked we had our civilans as the victims. This occurence shook the entire nation to its core and changed serveral things. One of those was society's views of Americans of Middle Eastern decent. The government became super paranoid, but with good reason, and tighted air port security and other precautions. What was not necessary was the mandatory meetings that Middle Eastern Americans had to have with the FBI and the "random" screenings at the air port for any one named Muhammed. Through all three of these tradgedies several parties were greatly negativly affected, but hopefully we can learn from the past and help history to stop repeating itself in the future.

I agree with Max and Robbie and think that these events have been some of the most horrifying in history. These events show significance towards who America really is. These things shape our country and who we want to be. There has odviously been different opions about what this country should be, but these events shows us that our country is diversified and want to stay that way. These events brought us together to have us realize that. Viewpoints of America have changed over the past year because of the events that have brought us together. We have become stronger and will continue to get stronger.

I do think that all these events relate to one another. They show the hatred in our world and how people arent willing to accept one another. In all of the attacks that we talked about it is certin groups that are being killed and picked on. These are things that i think that we need to learn from and stop doing because all we are doing is repating history.

i agree with max in that all of these events made america stronger. and they all relate to one another. being the most tragic points in american history they have brought us closer togeather after each one. i hope that we can stop these things from happining in the future with all the security measures we have taken. and i hope that america will never have to live through anything like this ever again

These events are definately related. Each of the events are based off of hate. The Holocaust was the hate of the Germans towards Jewish people. Millions of people were slaugtered. The 9/11 attacks were clear hate towards the American people, and yet again because of this hate thousands of people died. these events are connected in the blindness of hate.
