This week in Excel, we are talking a lot about the Cold War and the arms race. First of all, I think this is the stupidest war ever, it shouldn't even be considered a war. There is no actual fighting going on, its all about whos got better stuff. It's very childish, what is the point of building all these nuclear weapons, other than pure intimidation. I think that the United States should have dropped a couple of its bombs on Russia, that would have spiced things up a bit...but otherwise, it's a pretty boring "war". I also think that Russia is just a bunch of copy cats. Couldn't they think of something a little more original instead of copying the Atomic bomb and the Hydrogen bomb? Bunch of wusses if you ask me... And I figure since other people ask questions in these posts, I should probably do a couple myself.
1. What do you think of the idea of dropping some bombs on Russia?
2. Do you think that the world needed the Hydrogen bomb, OR the Atomic bomb?
And Finally
3. Do you think that the Cold War should have even been considered a war?

Alright, first of all i think that Jason's idea to just drop some bombs on Russia is a very valid point because if we did we probably wouldn't be alive today. So i can see where he is coming from... Jason, why would you want to drop some bombs on Russia to spice things up? They would obviously just nuke us back and most likely blow up most of the world. I also do think that the cold war was very stupid and not needed. All it proved was who could build more weapons, but all you needed were less than 100 bombs to totally destroy the other country. I don't think that the H-bomb or A-bomb should have been created but face it they were going to be found out about and created sooner or later. Now we just have to be responsible with our knowledge and material with nukes, which Russia is not very good at.
Well, i don't think the cold war was pointless, or stupid. It had meaning. We didn't want communism, and the soviet union did. Also them making the atomic bomb was smart on their part, they were advancing in their nuclear weapons. So yah, they copied us by making a bomb, but it was a benefit for them. So i doubt they care if they were original or not. The cold war was necessary, because of it were not a communist country.
I'm glad we didn't drop bombs on Russia, and it worked out how it did, i think dropping the A-Bomb on Hiroshima was horrible, because it killed so many innocent lives.
Also created the atomic bomb, i guess was good, because it showed other countries we were very powerful, and scared them.

I agree with Joslyn. The Cold War wasn't pointless. We did what we needed to…get rid of communism. It was what we believed was right.
Some good actually came out of the war. We were already ahead in the nuclear war, but now we were pushed to be even better and to go farther. The war helped get us into space.
I don't think that we should've dropped any bombs. We saw the devastation that the bombs created in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Also if we did drop bombs, then we would have had to pay reparations like in Japan putting us into a deeper debt.
