Black Boy is probably my favorite of the books we've read so far in Excel. I like the author's writing style. It's very easy to understand. Compared to other stories we've read I like how Black Boy isn't as dragged out like My Antonia, and details aren't left out like in Hemingway's stories. For the most part, everything is pretty to understand. Also, since Richard is such an unpredictable character, I continue reading. With most books, I usually zone out when I read or not even try to comprehend what I read. But since Richard is so interesting, I actually enjoy reading. Overall, I really like the book.

Black Boy is an excellent book, it gives you a first hand look of what racism was like through the eyes of a black kid living his life. I love how Richard has so many valuable lessons to teach through his stories of growing up. We need more books like Black Boy, books that give you an excellent picture of life in the 1920's. Black Boy is a great book for anyone who truly wants to know what black people had to deal with.

I really like Black Boy, it's defintly my favorite book that we have read so far. I think the reason that I like it so much is because as the reader I get to see what it was like to live during that time if you were black. I get to see all of the events that took place and what people thought of each other. It's interesting how Richard and all of the other black people of that time had to act like they like the white people just so that they could get a job and make money and eventually move North. I also like this book because we have been able to see Richard grow and learn about the world around him.

Black Boy is by far my favorite book that we've read so far. It's not that extraordinary of a plot line, but the way Richard Wright writes is so intriguing. I love how easily he transitions from black dialogue in the 1920s to very sophisticated, modern language. Aside from Wright's writing, I am captivated by the sudden changes in Richard's life. Not a chapter goes by without some sort of life-changing experience in Richard's life. I honestly hope that we keep reading books by authors with this style of writing.

I really liked Black Boy. I liked how there was always something going on, but what I really liked was that it wasn't confusing. For a lack of a better phrase, there weren't any hidden meanings. If there was a racial issue then you saw it, but if the author wanted to leave a little to the imagination, like when Richard kills the cat, it was not hard at all to find out and understand the motives of the characters. I really enjoyed it and i want to keep reading the second half to see how everything works out!!!

I felt that black boy was a very good book. It was definitly not my favorite book we have read so far, for many reasons. First of all i thought that the story got a little repetitive at times. It was always struggle and overcoming it in the same sort of way. I did likr richard wright writing style and i felt that it was a very quick read. I also couldn't really relate to many of the characters and i felt that many things and events in the book were exhagerated. Black boy is a good book that some very redeming qualities and it can appeal to many different types of readers.

I really liked this book. I think it was the best book we have read so far in Excel this year. I agree with other people when they said it was easier to understand than the other books. I was never able to know what was going to happen next. I liked how there was also suspense after every scene. I like how Richard Wright made Richard a very loose unpredictable character. Everything he did was for a purpose to get out to the reader, and I think that he accomplished that goal very well.

Black Boy is a good book but is not my faverate. The whole book is him arguing and trying to get his way. it also seems a little unreal becuase the main character is experiencing so much at such a young age. If i were the author i would not focus so much on how i rebel againts everything becuase after a while it all gets old.

I personally think that Black Boy was one of those books that you kind of wanted to put down early, but because of its plot that I feel has several climactic points, you keep reading, and I'm glad I did, besides the fact that you have to to survive the quizzes. I have really enjoyed how Black Boy not only accuarately displayed life during Richards time and segregation, but also, how Richard Wright wrote of a round, dynamic character who develops throughout the book physically and mentally, learning about himself and the time period that he lives in. Most of all, it isn't like many other books that just show how prejudice and racism are clearly bad things, but instead puts you in Richard's shoes and forces the reader to look at the world and time period in a new perspective, right next to the main character. This experience is what I got the most out of the book, and I saw it through Richard's family interactions and beliefs in a race's place in society and beliefs in religion, moving north, and Richard's presentation of the white man through his eyes. All of these qualities not only have made Black Boy a Great book, but have also set it apart from others that atempt to do the same thing.

I personally liked the book. I thought it was a great story with a great plot. I read the second half of the book that was not required to read and personally, I thought it would have been better without it. it was the same type of stuff over and over again. I liked how the author organized the first half and the pace of the book. It was a moderate pace, showing great detail but it was still fun and enjoyable. I liked that the book showed the whole life of the min character instead of just focusing on one period of time. All in all it was a good book but it was not my favorite.

I believe Black Boy was a great book. It was one of the best books we have read in Excel. The plot is great, and the stories of Richard and his struggles growing up were enough to keep me reading. The only thing that I did not like is that we did not get to read the rest of the book. I agree with everyone how they said it was an easier and less boring read than all the other books. The main thing that I liked about the book was the use of dialogue. It was always where it should have been, and it was very interesting.
Overall, I liked the book a lot, and I think we should read more like it.

Black Boy was a good book becuase i liked Richard's writing style. The book to me was easy to undertsand becasue he explain all of his evnts in specific details. I would like to contine reading part two of the book. I liked how Richard wrote his book, one scene he would talk about one thing then he will switch to another scene. That made me kept reading to see what was goin to happen next.

I really liked the book Black Boy. As I was reading I could understand the content and felt it was an easier book to read. I personally liked the authors style of writing and I think of all the books we have read in excel, this was the best. I felt that the characters kept the book going and helped the readers along without making them bored. After reading this book it helped me to better understand and relate it to what we were learning in excel at the time.
