Old Man / Open Boat Pictures

Just a smattering of the fabulous fun had on the Wednesday before break with the scurvy crew from the Old Man and the Sea / "The Open Boat" elective.

Just to set the record straight, as an uninterested observer, the girls kicked the boys' rears in rowing across the pool. They rowed straighter and quicker than the boys!

My thought: girls are more patient than the boys? Boys have to prove themselves as "men" and do manly things like row a boat. But if a girl does a thing like a row a boat well, everyone is surprised b/c few people expect it. Hmmmm..... things to ponder.

I personally had a great time doing this project. At first, I thought it was going to be a waste of time and stupid, but when I got into the boat, it was so much fun. I could feel how hard it was to hold onto the rope with four other guys pulling us around the pool. It was hard to get a grip espicially when I was turned backwards. I agree with Mr. Wickersham girls have way more patienice and didn't try to show off. The boys tried to be manly men to prove themselves and sometimes it didn't work out because they couldn't row the boat. It was a great experiance and I learned a lot about the stories.

Comenting on what mr. W said, I somewhat agree that girls are more patient than boys and think before thay act instead of just diving right in, but, i also think that it is a streotype that boys do not plan/are patient. There has always been a battle betweene the sexes and there always will be, but i think that both boys and girls have their strengths and weaknesses that allopw them to succede in their own ways
