Choices, choices, choices

I have been going between so many classes for next year, and I can’t decide which ones to choose. There are so many choices which include:
Excel 11
World Lit. And Comp.
AP Language
AP Government and so on.
I hear good and bad information about every class. Teachers can help a lot, but we have the ultimate decision for our future. Are you overwhelmed with all the choices and decisions that have to be made by the end of next week? Do you know what classes you want to take next year? Do you have any suggestions for the rest of the class about things you have heard?
Michelle

Alright, this question really hits a soft spot becuase i have had the roughest time deciding what class i should take next year. I have heard good and bad things about excel 11. Excel10 has been one of my favorite classes ever and i feel that it has made me a better student, but im not sure i wantto continue on the excel track. I am interested in reading mostly fiction stories, so when i heard the all the reading next year was non-fiction i was greatly dissapointed. I definitly want to stay in honors, and i hear good things about AP-Language and AP government. This decision has been stressing me out very much. i have gone to our teachers and have got there advice, but i am still unsure. This decision is very difficult and i feel that im not the only one dealing with this difficulty.

I had a hard time choosing my electives this year because there are so many to choose from. I take band and only have 2 more spots, and there are so many things that I want to take. I am, though, going to take Excel 11 next year and cant wait. I know that it is going to be an extremely long class but i would rather take that than going into AP lang and the other Social Studies courses. Writing isnt my strongest subject and I feel that in Excel I can get a lot of help on my papers and they are easier to write for me. I am taking some harder courses next year so I think that Excel is going to be a relief because it is one class as opposed to a all Writing and Reading class and an all Social Studies class. Dont get me wrong i love english and social Studies, but they just are not my strongest subjects.

I don't think I have ever had to make a harder decision in my life! (Sad, I know). But anyways, with all the choices between Excel 11, AP Lang, etc. I find it very hard to come to a conclusion on which class I should take. I have heard mixed feelings about the Excel 11 class. I agree with Chad about the length of the class. I can hardly sit still in a class on monday! It is not only my english and social studies decisions I am having trouble with. All the electives to choose from, language, and science. All of these decisions will effect the rest of my life, and I feel they don't give us enough time on making them. It is stressful enough going through school itself. I think i just might bite the bullet and stick with Excel.

I agree as well there are so many things to think throught before you choose you classes. you have to think abvout how a class will look on you transcript to get into college,if you can get a good grade in that class, will you like the teacher, ect. Many also have to consider summer schoolto improve their grade point and other things. personally i think that the best course for a spohmore becoming a junior is to take excel 11 b/c it covers so many requirements (philsophy, composition ect). there are many choices and many things to consider when picking your classes and all should be considered.

I feel like if you liked Excel 10 this year, Excel 11 is right for you. I agree with Chad, because Excel will be 140 minutes next year. I feel like it will be really long, and not hard, but time consuming. I like having all these choices, because its not demanding that we all have to take the same thing, thank you freedom!

AP LANG/GOV- I personally would rather do an art elective, then an AP class that I have no interest in. I've heard AP GOV was just as easy as regular gov? I wasnt sure, so I chose regular gov. Also, AP LANG is hard I heard, and its VERY time comsuming. I mean, if you love reading, then that class is great for you!

Comp/World Lit- Exactly what I am doing. It's regular and will teach me enough. I heard they are hard and easy, so don't worry.

otherwise...my social studies and english classes are..
World Lit/Comp. &
Social Pshycology/American Gov.

thanks.

Excel 11 doesn't include Philosophy. That course used to be required as part of the "Excel experience" but it's not required anymore. Too many options, schedule problems, all that jazz. It is an awesome class w/ one of my favorite teachers, Dr. Divizio, and I'd take the class if I was a student just b/c knowing philosophy will give you such an awesome basis for college.

Yes I completly agree. There are so many posibilities of classes that we can take next year that it is so hard to choose which ones are right for you and which ones you should be taking.
I have heard good and bad things about Excel 11 and it was a really tough decision for me to decide on my classes for next year. I really enjoyed Excel 10, I thought it was a very fun and exciting class.
I am feeling very overwhelmed with scheduling my classes for next year, It really is a tough decision especially because we can't make a lot of changes to our schedule. For anyone who is still deciding and ify about there classes for next year, the best advice I can give is to talk to your counselor about what classes would be best for you to take your junior year.

I am having a very hard time deciding what I'm going to take next year. There are just so many choices to do: Excel 11, AP Lang, Comp, World Lit, AP Gov, and so on. This year, excel has been a little tough on me for a few reasons. There is a lot of reading to be done and a lot of stuff that is covered over the semesters. Also, it can be very disorganized at times and the students don't know what to do for homework, and when things are due by. This is partly because of the three teachers. Next year I don't want to encounter these problems again. I have talked to Mr. Warrow and he said that Excel 11 is a lot of reading a writing - they write more papers then comp/worldlit. He said that he sat with the teachers and compared. For me, this is not a good thing. Also, Excel 11 next year will be 140 minutes. This is just too long I think to sit in a class and concentrate. The 90 minutes right now I think is just the right time, maybe pushing it. I think that next year I'm going to take Composition and World Lit.

The fact that there are so many choices to choose from it was very overwhelming. With all the choices from Excel 11, World Literature/Composition, AP Language, AP Government, and even the social studies electives how could anyone ever decide? Even though I already turned in my form for classes I’m just glad to know that nothing is final. From a countless number of people they have all told me that my junior year is the most important year and out of all the years it’s the one you definitely don’t want to slack off. I decided to take excel 11 next year mostly because I really enjoyed excel 10. From talking to other students they have all told me positive things about excel 11 and they say that they like the class and think its worth taking again.
