So, today we talked about woman's rights and the topic of abortion came up. Many people have different views about what exactly is right and what is wrong. Me personally, I believe that if the woman is either too young, too poor and can't raise a child, or for some good reason can't have the baby, they can get an abortion within the first 2 months while the fetus hasn't developed yet or really is a "baby". This, in my mind would be much better than having a baby being born from someone under 18 with no help and having a kid try to grow up in such bad conditions. But that's just me.
What are your thoughts on the topic?
First off are u for or against abortions?
If yes when is it right to have them and under what conditions?
If not what are your reasonings?
Welcome to our class's blog. We are discussing the latest topics we're studying in American history and literature. This website has been active since December 2005. Selected Excel 10 students will take turns posting their thoughts, and other Excel 10 students will comment on these posts. I think if a woman wants to have an abortion, it's her choice and no one should tell her she cannot. If a women truely cannont take care of the child properly, or the child is a product of rape, then a woman should be able to have an abortion. If you don't believe abortions are right, then don't have one, but don't take that right away from people who may need it.

I firmly believe that a woman has a right to have an abortion; as long as the baby is not fully developed it should be her right. The main reason I believe this is because of the circumstances that rape presents. If a woman is raped, there is absolutely no reason why she should be forced to carry the baby. Some may say that the woman should just deliver the baby and put it up for adoption, but women feel dirty and violated after rape; the baby would just be a nine month extension of that horror. I personally know someone who had to go through that, and though she luckily did not become pregnant, I know that carrying the baby would be a horrible constant reminder of her ordeal. It may be somewhat unfair to the unborn baby, but it is more unfair to a victim of rape to be forced to carry the baby.

I definitely think that a woman has the right to an abortion. It is her decision and only hers whether or not she would like to conceive the child. The government should not be involved in this issue whatsoever. A few reasons why I firmly believe that abortions should stay legal is, rape, mistake, or not being able to raise the baby. There is nothing worse in this world than a child who is unwanted and not taken care of. Also a major reason why these abortion facilities should stay open is that if they are not, people will do it themselves. This is a dangerous for the mother, and if it is not properly done there can be serious complications.
I think that it is the woman's choice as to whether or not she has an abortion. If she believes that having an abortion is morally wrong, then that's her decision, but all women should be able to have that decision to make. One idea should not be forced upon them. Also, if the woman is raped, then it would be aweful for her to have to have a baby whose father violated and harmed her. However, I believe that abortions should only be legal in the first couple of months and that if the girl is underage, then she should have to tell her parents that she is getting an abortion.
I think that it is the womans right to have an abortion. I think that its the womans choice and i dont think that there should be a law that stops a woman from doing it. Its what they believe in not what the government believes in. Personaly, i dont think that just because your pregnant that means you should have an abortion but if the situation calls for it then it is okay. Its like what ellie said if a girl is a victim of rape then she shouldnt have to carry the baby because she didnt have any control over it.

Until the heart in the baby starts beating, than it's not a baby and the mom is doing nothing wrong by having an abortion. We don't need more people growing up in poverty or bad conditions. If the mom can't support the baby, than that's worse than having an abortion. I don't see the big deal on abortions. It is the mother's right, and no rights should be taken away from anybody. Some people need abortions and should be able to have one.

I am for abortions because if the woman can't have the kid or doesn't have enough money to support a kid then it will ruin both of their lives. The kid would grow up in a poor environment and the women would have added pressure. It is only alright to have an abortion within the first couple of months because otherwise it is just gross for a baby to be killed while living in the mother.
I also agree that it is really the women's choice to have an abortion. There are a lot of reasons why someone wouldn't be able to have a baby, and it should be their choice if they don't want to have it and get an abortion. I especially agree with Ellie's point, that if a women was raped she probably would want to have an abortion. I know that if that happened to me I wouldn't want to have that constant reminder that that happened to me and i would definitely would not want to have that baby. It should not be forced for the woman to have that baby if she doesn't want to.

I think that a woman should be allowed to have an abortion if it is a case of rape or if the woman is under 18 and does not believe that she will be able to raise the child. I believe that abortion is a sin, but it is also necessary for certain conditions. Its not the girl's fault if she gets rapped, if the government makes abortion illegal that girl is pretty much screwed. If you don't believe in abortion then don't get one but you can't take that right away from people who need it.
