Zapruder film: historical artifact, exploitation, or private moment?

In my opinion, I think that the JFK assasination tape should be sold because he was our President and it affects the people as well as his family. Part of becoming the president is dealing with all the public attention and when something happens of course the public is going to find out and want to know what happened. For example the press and people were in Clinton's business when he supposidly cheated with Monica. In my opinion, I think that it should be shared with the people because he was our president. What do you think about it?

Bob

Editor's Note: This is in regards to our conversation about the Abraham Zapruder film, the infamous JFK assassination video tape that has been available for purchase since 1998.

Alright thank you Acho for taking my blog. I just took like 30 minutes typing it up and i come to the website to comment and whoa what do you know you already made one. I would have to agree, i don't think its appropriate for the film to be let out. Honestly, why would people want to see their president being killed. It would be graphic and I think hard to watch. So if i were Zapruder i would not destribute the tape but those are just based on my ethics.

I feel like the Zapruder film is more a historical artifact which should be shown to all which want to see it but not sold in to the public. They should place the video in a museum of some sort to honor J.F.K., and have tours throught so that you may see what happened. Because it was the President of the United States who was assinated, everyone has the right to see what happened, but also because it is a private moment, it should not be sold to people.

Well, JFK was our president. Basically everything that happens to him, or about him the whole country wants to know about. He decided to run for president, and have people follow him as a leader, and choose to support him. If he dies, although it is hard to watch, some people might want to know about it, and how it happened. It was a big historical moment, and people deserve to see what happened. If you choose not to know, than don't watch it.

I agree with Bob. Mainly because JFK was an American icon. He "WAS" America at one point in our history. We should have access to this information because we should have the right to see what happened on that tragic day. It is our right as the people of America to see our icon get taken down. I know there are parts that we should not see. But, why can we not see JFK get shot when we can listen about Clinton having sexual relations with Monica. Thats backwards. JFK was a man and died with honor. Clinton was just making a fool of himself. I also believe that we should have the right to see other important footage on such events. For example, WWII. We should see what our soldiers had to go through to fight for our country. All I'm saying is that the people should have more right in these type of situations and should hear less about the more stupid things like sex allegations.

Thanks,
Mike
