Anyway...this week in class we watched the video Hiroshima and i'm going to post my reflections on it.
When the Japanese bombed us at Pearl Harbor, it was tragic and a lot of people died in terrible ways, so then we decide it time for revenge and we started making this humongous atomic bomb (actually 2 humongous bombs) which contains chemicals that burn into your skin. We dropped the first bomb in Hiroshima, and as we saw in the video this lady got her one leg burned off with the contaminated "rain drops," and people were burning everywhere. The US had so much hatred towards the Japanese that they did not realize that they were doing the same thing that the Japanese did to us but worse. The men in the US navy were talking about how they wanted to wipe out all of the Japanese. And the guy who was on the plane when the bomb was dropped said that he took a nap and had a sandwich afterwards, he was acting as if he just saved thousands of people insted of suffering them to death. I understand that they are so mad about Pearl Harbor and the deaths of so many Americans, but did the revenge have to be this bad? Do you think its human to kill all these people in this terrible way...and be happy about it?

I think that it is completely INhumane to be able to kill a whole city of people in HORRIABLE ways and then just talk about it like its nothing and sit down have lunch and take a nap, what??? That is so horriable! I really don't understand how people are able to do that to others, don't they realize that those people are just like them! It makes me sick watching that video and I don't want to ever watch something that horriable ever again!

I agree with Melissa in how horrible it was killing all of those innocent Japanese civilians. I don’t think it was right for America to kill all the people in the Hiroshima that weren’t doing anything to harm us. But if you were to put yourself in Americans' shoes at that time, you would probably want to kill the Japanese. The city of Hiroshima is apart of Japan who bombed Pearl Harbor killing our soldiers, so you would want revenge too. If I was living during that time I would be probably be happy that we bombed them. But living now, I think that it is terrible that all of those children were killed and the movie was really gross when it showed the people once the bomb had hit!
At first I thought that it was ok to drop the bomb on Hiroshima and I thought that it was fair considering that they bombed us at Pearl Harbor. Although now that I have more knowledge of what happened I realize that it was terrible and should have never happened. They bombed our military, we bombed their innocent children. We could just as easily have scared them with a test or bombed a different part of the country rather than attacking innocent Japanese families. After reading excerpts from Hiroshima I cried all night long and couldn't stop crying all the next day.

i actually agree with aj. at first i didnt really think it was that big of a deal that we were bombing japan because they did it to us at pearl harbor, and of course it was just for revenge. i think that we didnt really think of our actions that much and kinda just went after it. because now if you think about it, it was really horrible, and killed many innocent peoples lives that had nothing to do with it, so mabye something other than atomic bomb would get revenge on them with out killing so many people
